Content Ideas

If you’ve ever sat down to write a blog post or sat in front of a camera to do a video, there are times where you can’t really quite decide what you’re going to talk about. This problem occurs whether you are a seasoned professional or new to creating content, and it can make the difference between you getting some work done in your day or not accomplishing anything at all. Over the years I’ve struggled with the same problems and I’m going to share with you some of the ways I use to come up with great content.

One of the easiest ways to get inspired with an idea that you can use to either create an engaging video or blog post is to get out of your regular surroundings and take a moment to look at the world around you.  This might mean that you decide to take your laptop with you to a coffee shop that you have never been to before, go sit in the library that is down the street from your place, or go to any other place than where you are right now. Away from your office you will encounter new stimuli and experiences that can inspire you to start writing. Personally, this is been one of the best methods for me to come up with new ideas and when I am stuck it is usually the way I use to get my creative juices flowing.

Another method that I use to come up with ideas for creating content has more of an introspective feel to it. In this method, you look at what you’re experiencing in your life and in your surroundings and write what you know. For example, if you are in the market for a new vehicle, you can share any kind of tips or tricks you picked up while shopping for a new car, and also you can look at some of the pitfalls or struggles that you may have encountered. This also works really well if you’re experiencing health-based challenges in your life, and it gives you an opportunity to share how you are handling them with the world. One example would include changing your diet because you discovered that you have diabetes and sharing what you have eating. The beauty of sharing your experiences with others is that many people out there will be struggling with them as well, and these types of life experiences can create some lively discussion.

When all else fails, watching a movie or reading a book can really inspire and help to get your creative juices flowing. I am a firm believer that consuming more content will help you with any kind of content output that you may be doing. Books, movies, and music provide inspiration for me to come up with new ideas and topics to write about. Sometimes listening to a song can ignite the writer inside and get you out of your slump. Depending on the content you are creating, books, movies, and music can help provide snippets, stories, and experiences that you can incorporate into your work. Remember that it is important that you don’t just blatantly copy these creative works that you are using to inspire her own content creation.

As content producers we sometimes struggle with coming up with ideas to use in our own creative works. But you can get your next idea by simply leaving the office and observing the world around you, drawing from your life experiences or by beings inspired by good music, movies and books. Inspiration can be found around every corner.
