When it comes to buying games, I typically look for ones that I can play with my kids. Sitting together in the living room playing a game that uses controllers is the perfect way to spend some time together in this increasingly digital age. It not only means that we can spend time together, but it give the kids the opportunity to have their own friends over to play a game just like we used to with consoles growing up.
I think it is very important.
Since the push has been towards playing games online together but physically apart, I have been more focused towards finding games that we can play together in the same room.
Naturally, I bought Unrailed! – it fit my criteria for a couch co-op game that we could all play with the added bonus that we didn’t really need to do any kind of reading – meaning my youngest could play as well.
But can you play Unrailed! as a single player game? That was the one question I had to dive-in myself to find out.
It didn’t take long to figure out that playing a game designed specifically for multiple players wasn’t going to work. In fact, if you watch the video, you will see that it was impossible to start a level – the game does not allow you to play single player at all.
Mystery solved.
